What are stock chain/sprocket specs & how can we modify? - tdah73 - 12-05-2003

Stock chain: DID O-ring, 530 series, 108 links.
Stock sprockets: Front, 15 tooth. Rear: 47 tooth. Both are steel.

Several options exist for to modify them: you can change the "series" to 520 or 525, meaning going to lighter, thinner (and therefore somewhat weaker) chain and sprockets to reduce unsprung weight. You can also change the size of the sprockets, increasing or decreasing the number of teeth of the front and rear sprocket. Decreasing the size of the front sprocket or increasing the size of the rear sprocket yields quicker acceleration (although no horsepower change), whereas doing the opposite will give slower acceleration but better gas mileage.
