Mount the sensor to the inside of the left for, and replace the magnetic screw with one from the rotor. Careful to not over tighten - but know that it won't meet the torque specs or the OEM bolt, it will strip. I've had mine in for 3 years, and it hasn't loosened up as of yet.

Hi
I'm also in process of turning my cat into a streetfighter and did the ram air conversion as per these photos in this post. But it hasn't made a difference, the bike still won't run over 40mph.
Did I miss something?
Any help greatfully received, I miss my ride.

Hopefully someone replies to this but do you still use an air filter with this mod? I just got a 01 cat and it was already in streetfighter form. Problem is I can't get it passed 6k 7k rpms without it sputtering.

If I recall correctly, it has to do with the increased air flow with the jets. For an experiment, cover up the inlet holes with tape and see if you can get it to rev higher.

Wouldent the bike receive no air if I covered the holes then? I'll give it a try. Didn't know if I had to do that mod or something. Read somewhere that someone out a dynojet in and it was fine after that not sure if that helps

Dyno jet kits are good as they are fully adjustable for main jets as well as the jet needle. When you go above 7k, your throttle position is probably wide open, indicating you're using the main jet circuit.
The bike will still receive air, just not nearly as much. In addition, it's only for experimenting with easy to adjust measurements of air (without having access to an air/fuel computer). Tape up the frame holes, and run it in neutral. Can you get it past 7k rpm? Try moving the throttle fast (wide open) versus a very slow throttle build. How does the bike respond under both scenarios? Remember that the carb circuits are dependent on throttle position. If it responds better, then you know which direction to go - in essence, you have too much air for the fuel being delivered. You could further experiment by removing a small section of tape and seeing how the bike responds. The second part of the experiment is once you find what works at idle, take that same airflow and try it at speed.
The YZF600r airbox is not a true "ram air" system. There are large surge tanks under the fairings in the OEM design on either side. When folks 'fighter the YZF, they remove these surge tanks, and that changes the airflow into the airbox.
That's the theory, anyway.

You may find that what works at speed may not work very well at idle (at least for the main jet). But then again, you're not revving it to 6k every time you come to a standstill.

[/img]Alright well this weekend I'll give taping it up a try and see if that works. Problem also is I don't have any tachometer. I only have a little speedometer. Guess the guy broke his original cluster.
The bike runs and idles perfectly fine. I haven't tried to Rev it that high on idle. All I know was when I drove it I went threw first and second gear fine. Third and above it wouldent go passed what in guessing to be 5k-7k rpms

But if a dynojet will help then I don't kind just doing that too. As I also have a yoshi slip on

Rev it at a standstill and see if you can rev it high. My guess is that you probably can. If you can, tape it, and take it for a ride, and see if you can get it to rev past 7k.

Stock air filter, dynojet jet kit, no air box mods and she runs great.

It's crazy that I took this bike off the road in the fall of 2010 for paint and bodywork and it never saw the road again. This last spring I put it back to a roller before I moved and sold it shortly after moving. I hope the new owner got it back on the road again.
